The Killing: Seattle’s Worst

One of the peppier scenes from The Killing.

Greetings! I’d like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Danger, who has been so kind as to allow me to stop on by, stay in the guest room once in a while and help myself to whatever’s in the fridge. Bob is a good friend, so I hope he doesn’t take this next sentence the wrong way. I’d like to extend my gratitude, sure, but I’d also like to pour battery acid on his face. You see, it was Bob who recommended I begin watching The Killing.

By now, you have heard about this show. It started off rather strong, featured solid performances from most of the cast, and was stylishly shot. But the day after the June 20 season finale, the internet was positively apoplectic over the patently ridiculous ending. Having caught on to The Killing‘s lameness by episode five or so, all we wanted was an answer to the one burning mystery question posed by the series: Does it ever not rain in Seattle? Also, we really wanted to know who killed Rosie Larsen. The show’s tagline was “Who Killed Rosie Larsen?”! Well, as it turns out, the show’s creative team is damned if it knows. Who killed Rosie Larsen? It was more like: Who didn’t? Read the rest of this entry

Dangerous Entertainment News – Monday, June 27

Prepare for adventure . . . and links. Mostly links.

Hello all and welcome back to the DEN. Hope you had an entertaining weekend that was not filled with “Cars 2” and/or “Green Lantern”. In today’s news we have a lot of Pixar (can you ever really have too much Pixar?), a look back at “Wet Hot American Summer” by one of the cast, Ben Affleck names himself his favorite actor of all-time, Queen Latifah gets sexy, and much more. Happy Monday.

Coming Distractions: Trailer: Boardwalk Empire Season Two (A.V. Club) – Well, let’s talk BE for a minute. Season 1 started out strong, then got somewhat weak in the middle before ending with a bang in the last few episodes. Not to mention that it did a hell of a job setting up an even more exciting season 2. Everybody is back and this time some new lines are drawn thanks to the reemergence of the Commodore and Nucky getting a little too big for his britches (just britches being britches). Now the New York crew is back in the game and the feds are still knocking at the door and . . . sorry, sorry. I was hyperventilating just a little bit. Needless to say, I’m excited for season 2. Plus, more Gretchen Mol is never a bad thing.

Bobcast Ep. 8 – It Ain’t Easy Being Green Lantern

No Blake, don't look back. Just get as far away as possible.

In episode 8, Bob and Pete review Green Lantern and how they may have fallen out of hetero-man-love wth Ryan Reynolds. The guys also discuss how they’ve beaten the odds, how everything Will Smith touches turns to crap, and Jean Claude Van Damme’s triumphant, yet chilly return.
