So Bad, They’re Great Presents: ‘Lockdown’

Welcome, dear readers, to a new semi-regular feature we are debuting here at the Danger Blog entitled simply enough, “So Bad, They’re Great.” These are the movies that are so mind-numbingly awful their entertainment value cannot be measured. The ones you watch on demand after a drunken Saturday night. And for all their faults, they can never be accused of being dull.

Admittedly, we’re dealing with a razor-thin line here. For every ‘The Room’, ’88 Minutes’, or ‘Troll 2’ which never fail to bring the funny – intentional or not – there are flicks like the remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” or anything directed by Uwe Boll which make you want to take a plunger to your face a la Jim Carrey in ‘Ace Ventura’.

Now you may be wondering, and rightly so, why would anyone seek out movies this bad? Why waste your time on something you know is going to be a disaster? To which I can only reply, if you’re asking those questions, this is probably not the segment for you. For the rest, please read on as we tackle ‘Lockdown’, a delightful piece of cheese I recently caught on Netflix. And just to clarify, this is the 1990 movie, not the 2003 film or the 2006 National Geographic documentary of the same name.

The guys also get around to discussing Aronofsky’s proposed biblical Black Swan on a boat, board games being made into movies, revisiting The Room, and of course Somali pirates.
